Jazz By The Pool, the only Summer jazz festival by the pool in Padova, this year changes its colours. After last year’s edition, dedicated to the soul of black Afro-American traditions, this year’s event is dyes to… Blues. A musical journey with the insignia of the most sentimental and emotional sounds of jazz.
From June 24th to September 9th, for seven Friday evenings, the keyword is “Feelin’ Blues”. In Terme Preistoriche’s park, beneath the moonlight and in the company of the most striking voices of the Italian and international scene, in continuity with the sound research-oriented enhancement of the talents soloists already started with the last edition, it will be possible to enjoy the festival.
The journey into the Blues begins on June 24th with a tribute to Nina Simone interpreted by Renata Tosi accompanied, among others, by Jacopo Jacopetti, one of the most authentic Italian saxophonists of the jazz scene.
On July 8th, the festival dedicates the evening to African influences with the group Pietro Taucher & Soul feat. Fiorella Ekwueme, Italo-Nigerian vocalist and rising star of the national soul scene.
On July 22nd, a great return: after last year’s success, ”lady Pink Floyd” Durga McBroom returns to Jazz By the Pool with a new project singing with a co-star: Chiara Luppi, competitor to The Voice of Italy in 2013.
On August 5th it will be the warm and powerful voice of Aba, finalist at X Factor 2013, to seduce the audience of the festival.
On August 26th it’s up to Stevie Biondi and his The Black-Pop-List, lead viewers into the Blues lands.
Jazz standards and swing rhythms are the ingredients of the concert on Friday 2nd September with the versatile crooner Alan Farrington along with an “all star quartet”.
To close the festival, on September 9th, the father of Italian Blues, Fabio Treves: the “Lambrate Puma” will come to Jazz By The Pool accompanied by his inseparable harmonica.
A sky of umbrellas: Montegrotto just like Agueda. Curious, surprising and colorful is the artistic touch that is added to this year’s edition: an avenue of about 200 floating colourful umbrellas hanging among the trees will accompany the entry of the spectators in the natural setting of the park. The installation follows in the footsteps of the now famous initiative of Agueda, the Portuguese coastal town that first gave rise to this kind of street art, now widespread in southern Spain and the rest of the Mediterranean.
