Jazz by the Pool, the international festival of jazz music hosted by our pools, is back for the 5th year in a row.
The festival, which combines elegance with jazz rhythem to the pleasure of a relaxing bath in our thermal pools and a buffet dinner under the stars in the park at the foot of the Euganean Hills, is now an eagerly awaited event for fans of jazz, who will find national and international artists playing during the Summer, from June 28 to September 6.
Opening the fifth edition of Jazz by the Pool, on Friday 28th June, is the concert of the Greg Burke Trio. The festival then continues for other six Fridays during the Summer. On July 5th, the young pianist Emmet Cohen, already a celebrity in New York, with the Emmet Cohen-Giuseppe Venezia-Elio Coppola Trio performs by the pool, followed on July 12th by the quartet of the saxophonist Jacopo Jacopetti that accompanies the warm voice of Helouica “Luma” Lourenço. On July 19th is the turn of the famous Canadian saxophonist Michael Blake and his quartet. After a short break, on the 23rd of August the quartet of the Dutch Bernard van Rossum plays for the festival. The night of the 30th of August is dedicated to the concert of the young Carmelo Emanuele Patti 4et, last year’s winner of the Terme Preistoriche Award of Jazz by the Pool Competition, a music contest dedicated to emerging talents. Friday 6th September the ensemble Sphere. Roberto Spadoni & NP Monk Collective with Fabrizio Bosso on the trumpet as special guest ends the 5th edition of the festival.
Great news for the 2013 edition are the three events that are held in the splendid setting of Villa dei Vescovi in Luvigliano di Torreglia (PD) and which combines music, culture and wine tastings of the Euganean territory kindly offered by the Strada del Vino dei Colli Euganei. Every event at the Villa includes a guided tour of the villa, a cocktail, and of course the concert.
To open the calendar of these events is Barbara Casini on the 21st of June with the concert Parole e Musica and the presentation of the book “Se tutto è musica – pensieri e parole dei compositori brasiliani”, followed on July 26th by a concert of the Israeli saxophonist Shauli Einav 4et. The event of September the 5th is dedicated to the famous Italian musicologist Stefano Zenni to present his latest work “Storia del jazz. Una prospettiva globale”.
In addition to the concerts of the main artists, every night of the festival begins with the performances of the young finalists of Jazz by the Pool Competition, a contest for young musicians. The award ceremony of the winners is on September the 6th, during the final evening of the fifth edition of the festival.
