For those who love cycling tourism, it will be a pleasure to discover the new bike track-ring of the Colli Euganei: a tour for racing bicycles, road-bikes, city- and mountain-bikes which has as legs Monselice, Este and Praglia, all easily reachable destinations.
Accessible at any age and any kind of bike tourism from slow bike or easy bike up to extreme bike, the flat country track is a ring that surrounds the Colli Euganei and goes through delightful naturalistic, historical, artistic and cultural places.
Frequently by the side of the river bank, the tour is on different kinds of road: hard pitch, dirt patch and tracks which go through corn and wheat, vineyards and orchyards where you may have great view points on the landscape.
The tour requires almost a whole day of pedaling, visits, enogastronomic tastings and picture taking. After such a day the best way to end the day is a relaxing bath in the thermal pools and a decontracting treatment!
Starting from Padova going towards Abano Terme and Montegrotto Terme, or choosing one of the two as starting point, you will see the Catajo Castle and the fluvial town of Battaglia Terme. Following the track besides the river bank you will arrive to the first city with ancient walls, Monselice. The tour carries on through crops and wonderful hilly landscapes up to the medieval towers of Este. Gone through this second town the path follows the Bisatto Canal towards Cinto Euganeo and passes the geo-paleontologic museum of Cava Bomba which is based at the furnace. Here the track goes towards the bridge of Lozzo Atestino and beneath the Monte Lozzo you will see the Valbona Castle. The track continues in direction Vo’ Vecchio, known for its famous Villa Contarini-Vernier, and carries on towards Bastia di Rovolon. A short uphill and downhill slope bring to Montemerlo and the Praglia Abbey, where the Benedictine monks still live. The ring ends returning once again towards Abano Terme, Montegrotto Terme and Padova.
